Our Beginnings...
The Upper Room was founded by a group of around 60 followers of Jesus who started gathering for prayer and worship in late 2009 in response to a revelation of
Luke 22.12:
“you will find a large Upper Room fully furnished,
make preparations there.”
We gathered upstairs in a Newmarket gym — our first “fully furnished” Upper Room.
In January 2010 we stepped out in faith to plant the Upper Room. We set up and packed out each week in Parnell school hall. Not long after the church community of around 180 pulled together and renovated our current warehouse space where in July 2011 we began the next chapter of the Upper Room in Clayton Street, Newmarket.
